Try different combinations of glue and borax to see how the relative proportions affect the consistency of the resulting polymers and how each behaves - how bouncy is it, and how squishy, stretchy, etc. Then enjoy the various craft projects - all using glue.
WHAT THE KIDS SAY
I liked that it had some different things in the kit like colouring (even though it stained my hands!) and the small containers to keep your projects in - that was cool. But, you don't just have to add glue - there's more ingredients you need to add, which I don't like (ie. beads). I like the different recipes like making slime (my favourite to make right now) and making a slime bouncy ball.
I was excited to make goo, but I don't have any glue. I made some of the other other mixtures but not the goo which is what I wanted.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
Just Add Glue is a craft that is on point right now - with slime making being such a popular DIY. I like the different recipes, but needing "polystyrene" beads is not an ingredient that kids can identify with (using words like glitter, beads, sequins would be better). The container is flimsy, gets bent out of shape and the handle to carry the container regularly comes out. The kit comes with lots of items and great instructions, however, I do wish that it DID come with a small bottle of glue (other than red glitter glue) to get started. Love the powdered Borax that has to be mixed and the containers to store the finished product. The blue and red colouring did stain the kids hands (by the end of the day, it was very faint). We liked the "recipes" and the space in the instructions to document success and comments. Overall, a fun craft.
This is a really cool science art kit that is very appealing to my son (8). He enjoyed mixing all the materials together to create the different projects. The kit calls for glue to be included but we have not been able to find glue to use. I have looked in four different stores and everywhere is sold out, so it is too bad that there is no glue included in this kit. My son had no difficulty reading the instructions and making the mixtures. It is clear what do and nothing had to be explained to him. I love kits that blend science with art. It teaches him about science in a creative way, but I really wish we had the glue to add so the experiments would be complete!
An exciting Science + Art kit that is sure to stretch your imagination! Create different forms of super stretchy polymers and make them bounce! Create putties that can be picked up, stretched, and even rolled into a ball that bounces. Using the same ingredients create an array of creative crafts that you can keep, like crystals and window clings! Learn about states of matter including liquids and polymers. This STEAM kit is a basic introduction to chemistry and material engineering for ages 6 and up with adult supervision.
